twixnmix: Whitney Houston and Jermaine Jackson performing their duet Nobody Loves Me Like You Do on the soap opera “As The World Turns” on July 25, 1984. Jermaine Jackson had a year-long affair with Whitney Houston while he was still married to Hazel Gordy. Their relationship inspired the video for Whitney’s 1985 single Saving All My Love For You, which tells the story of a woman’s romance with a married man, there is even a lookalike of Jermaine in the video. Whitney Houston: “When I did ‘Saving All My Love,’ I was going through a terrible love affair. He was married — and that will never work out for anybody, never, no way, forget about it.” In his 2011 book, You are Not Alone: Michael, Through A Brother’s Eyes, which was released a year before her death, Jermaine wrote about how he struggled with his feelings for her, although put them aside for the sake of his marriage. Jermaine Jackson: “These were turning into duets between temptation and forbidden love, and the studio sessions gave us what felt like stolen time together. I arrived on those days with butterflies, because the whole experience of being around Whitney was intoxicating. I admitted silently to myself that I had the strongest feelings for a remarkable woman, whose heart was as beautiful as her face, and it became increasingly hard to sing love songs with all that motion and unspoken passion between us”. Jermaine also revealed that his brother Michael had warned him off pursuing an intimate relationship with Whitney. “He didn’t fuel the temptation as some guys would. He reminded me about Hazel, about family… As much as I wanted to lose myself in all these feelings, I told her to wait. Ultimately, we had to go our separate ways and it killed us both.”
